We are delighted to present "IBUKI," the first curated exhibition of 2025, showcasing a fresh wave of artistic expression. This group exhibition features 13 distinguished artists—11 ceramic artists, one glass artist, and one photographer—each infusing their work with a new "breath" and vitality. The word "Ibuki" (息吹) represents renewal, revival, and the emergence of new life, akin to the arrival of spring. It symbolizes the driving force behind both creativity and growth, which is, needless to say, requisite to making art.
For the 13 participating artists, "Ibuki" is more than mere energy and inspiration. Their works embody years of dedicated craftsmanship, refined aesthetics shaped through deep exploration, and an unwavering determination to push artistic boundaries. To highlight this essence, we embrace the term "意吹 (Ibuki)," which combines "breath" with "will." Through their creations, we witness a convergence of passion and resilience, ushering in limitless new artistic possibilities.
By bringing together artists from diverse disciplines—ceramics, glass, and photography—this exhibition creates a dynamic space where unique expressions are able to interact and inspire. We invite you to experience "IBUKI," where the breath of determination paves the way for the future of art.
The exhibition will be held at Kura Monzen gallery from Saturday, March 8th to Monday, April 14th 2025. We hope you are able to stop by the gallery, or view the exhibition catalogue online.
