A pair of Hyotan grown together as twins with carved wooden lids enclosed in an age darkened display box titled Wago Hisago (Gourds United in Harmony) and dated Kaei 3 (1850) signed Shochiku. The gourds are 14 x 9.5 x 18.5 cm (5-1/2 x 4 x 7-1/2 inches) and are in excellent condition.
