Birds prepare for winter, adding fat to their plumage among the red leaves of autumn on this painting by Takeguchi Takeshi dated an autumn day in Taisho 11 (1922). Thick pigment on silk in a patterned silk border featuring wooden rollers. It is 63 x 200 cm (25 x 78-3/4 inches). There is some creasing and minor marks typical of age.
Takeguchi Takeshi (B. 1897) was a student of Nishimura Goun and Kobayashi Kokei. Active in the early 20th century, he exhibited with the Inten National Exhibition.
