A stunning Oke-gata bucket shaped fresh water container for use I the Japanese Maccha Tea Ceremony covered in running glaze by Fujinoki Dohei enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Chosen Karatsu Hitoeguchi Mizusashi. It comes complete with a black lacquered wooden lid and measures 20 cm (8 inches9 diameter, 16 cm (6-1/4 inches) tall and is in perfect condition.

Fujinoki Dohei is a veteran ceramic artist who has devoted himself wholeheartedly to the tradition of Karatsu tea ceramics. Born in Niigata Prefecture in 1949, Fujinoki began his ceramic training in 1975 under Ōhashi Yutaka in Karatsu. In 1978, he continued his studies in Mino under Katō Yoshiemon. In 1980, he established Dohei Kiln (Dōhei-gama) in Karatsu, where he has since pursued his distinctive interpretation of Karatsu ware. His kiln is located amid abundant greenery, the kiln grounds include a rustic tea hut, where Dohei enjoys the tea ceremony. Because tea practice is an integral part of his daily life, his approach to tea possesses a unique character. Guided by a distinctive sensibility, his soft, luscious glazes and innovative forms have captivated tea-ceramic enthusiasts. He creates works that are at once playful and deeply evocative.
