A small lacquered container wrapped in wicker and sliced bamboo basketry attached by a chord to a carv3d lacquer (guri) kogo incense case enclosed in a silver cage dating from the 19th century. Inside is found a tea whisk and a small container for maccha tea powder. The tea container is lacquered in red over black with designs of soaring birds and flowers. Together with the whisk they perfectly fit inside the pouch bound with stitched bamboo. A chord running through silver loops on the Inro lid is closed by a single coral bead, and extends to a three pronged silver cage. This opens to allow the Kogo incense case to be removed. The Kogo is made in the Guri technique of carved lacquer, as evidenced by the colored strata visible in the deeply sculpted surface. The Inro is 9 x 7.5 x 3 cm. The kogo is roughly 4 cm diameter.
