A striking design with crushed eggshell on black lacquer infused on the sides with snowflake blossoms in faint silver dating from the mid-century. A solid silver bead separates the lid and box. The lid opens to reveal a section for a Suzuri ink stone and brush/ ink storage, wit a drawer below for paper. The box is 31.5 x 19 x 8 cm (12-1/2 x 7-1/2 x 3 inches) and is in excellent condition.
