Puppies frolic in the snow on this early two panel screen by Nishimura Goun. The style strongly reflects the style of his teacher, Takeuchi Seiho. Nishimura Goun (1877-1938) was a Kyoto painter apprenticed in the orthodox school under Kishi Chikudo and later in the Western hybrid by Takeuchi Seiho, that artists influence apparent here.
