A radical torn Oribe vessel by Higashida Shigemasa enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Oribe Hanaire.  It is 12.5 x 15.5 x 30.5 cm (5 x 6 x 12 inches) and is in excellent condition. 

Higashida Shigemasa was born in Hiroshima in 1955, and garnered a BA from the Shimonoseki Municipal University in 1978. Looking for an alternate path, he entered the Gifu Prefectural Technical School Ceramic Course in Tajimi in 1984, graduating in 1986.  He established a studio in Tokyo, specializing in Shino and Oribe ware.  He has exhibited widely both domestic and abroad in Europe and the Americas.  Works by him are held in the Art Complex Museum Massachusetts, The Art Institute of Chicago, Ball State University Museum, Hamilton Art gallery, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Dayton Art Institute and many others.
