A box decorated with Mother of pearl and the black silhouettes of poppies exhibited at the 33rd National Traditional Lacquer exhibition in 2015 by Matsuzaki Shinpei enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Raden Maki-e Hako, Keshi. It is 9.5 x 17.7 x 9.5 cm (4 x 7 x 4 inches) and is in excellent condition.
Matsuzaki Shinpei (B. 1981) graduated with an Masters of Fine Arts from the Lacquer department of the Tokyo University of the Arts. He has exhibited with and been awarded at the National Traditional Crafts Exhibition (Nihon Dento Kogei Ten) as well as the National Traditional Lacquer Exhibition among others. He currently lives in Okinawa, and divides his time between production and teaching at the Prefectural Art University.
