A fresh water jar for use in the Japanese Maccha Tea Ceremony decorated with a gleeful group of black-clad monks on begging rounds accompanied by a verse signed the 80 year old Gyokusen. It comes with a black lacquered Tsukuibuta (concave) lid enclosed in a period wooden box. It is 14.5 cm (just under 6 inches) diameter, roughly the same height, and is in excellent condition. I have seen a number of Gassaku collaborative works by Sohan Gempo, 486th head of Daitokuji Temple and Gyokusen, including images of begging monks like this.
