A spectacular Koro incense burner from the Meiji Satsuma tradition surmounted by a pierced silver lid with cloisonne. The hexagonal from with rising handles is supported on 3 beast heads feet, all sides intricately decorated with classical scenes in gold The Koro is 14 x 10 x 13.5 cm (5-1/2 x 4 x 5-1/2 inches) and is in excellent condition, enclosed in a fine customs made kiri-wood box with a certificate of authenticity signed by ceramic researcher and specialist Omori Kazuo (b. 1932). He wrote the book (in Japanese) on Satsuma.
