A dynamic design of clustered cherry blossoms on chinkin gold by LNT Komori Kunie enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Yozakura Chinkin Marubon (Circular Trays with Cherry Blossoms at Night). Each is 36.5 cm (14-1/2 inches) diameter and in excellent condition.
Komori Kunie was born in Wajima, the heart of one of Japans most revered lacquer traditions, in 1945, first learned the decorative technique of chinkin, before enrolling in the Ishikawa Prefectural Wajima Lacquer Art Technical Training Center, studying under Akaji Yusai and Ota Hitoshi. Komori performs all process of production himself, from obtaining the materials for the base to applying the finishing coat. His meticulously crafted lacquerwares reflect a fusion of traditional joinery techniques and aesthetic finesse.
