An expertly crafted Chawan covered in qhite glaze overwhich is applied deeply fissured craling black by Seki Moritaka enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Kuro Oribe Chawan.It is 12.5 x 11 x 8.5 cm (5 x 4-1/4 x 3-1/2 inches) and is in excellent condition.
Seki Moritaka was born in 1967 and studied Bizen ware under Yamamoto Takeichi. This ceramic artist fascinated by Momoyama pottery established a dynamic style full of enthusiasm which goes well beyond the idea of reproduction.He has chosen Shino and Seto-guro as his forte, and clearly focused, does these both incredibly well.He focuses on a small production of extremely fine wares for a few private exhibitions held annually.
