As a woodworker, I was gob stopped when I picked up this paper thin turned hard-wood bowl for the first time.It appears to be Keyaki, a fine hardwood of the elm family, and is coated outside with a simple wiped on lacquer finish, inside with smooth chocolate colored lacquer. The bowl is 25 cm (10 inches) diameter, 4 cm tall and weighs just 226 grams (less than 8 ounces).Incredible craftsmanship from a country well known for its manic attention to detail.It comes in a fine modern kiri-wood collectors box and is in excellent condition.
