A breathtaking fresh water urn in clear Sea Green capped with a gleaming gold final by Kato Yoji enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Ryuhyo no Etsu Mizusashi.  The crackled Green is shot with fissures, all glistening with gold like sunlight reflecting off the sharp edge of broken ice.  It is 17 cm (6-1/2 inches) diameter roughly the same height, 16.5cm tall and in excellent condition.

Kato Yoji was born in Toki city, the heart of Shino-Oribe ceramic ware, in 1953, and studied under future Living National Treasure Kato Takuo.  He was awarded Nyusen at the Nitten in 1979, followed by the Asahi Ceramic Prize at the 1982 Asahi Ceramics Exhibition (Asahi Togeiten).  His work was collected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Gaimusho) in 1986, and the same year  was awarded at the Chokoku no Mori New Crafts Exhibition.  He was again awarded at the 1987 Chunichi Kokusai Togeiten International Ceramics Exhibition. He ahs also been exhibited at the National Ceramics Exhibition (Nihon Togeiten), Gendai Chatoten (modern Tea Ceramics) where he was awarded, and top prize at the Kanazawa Togei Taisho Ceramics Exhibition.
