Item Code: MC752

Wow is all you can say to this stunning Tokkuri, the dark clay covered in karst-like encrustations by Masamune Satoru enclosed in the original signed wooden box.  It is 9.5cm (just less than 4 inches) diameter 15.5cm (6 inches) tall and in excellent condition.

Masamune Satoru was born in Inbe (Bizen) in 1954, and graduated from Okayama Prefectural Ceramic Center in 1973. A true master of the craft, his work was featured in the Okayama Prefecture Art Exhibition, Japanese Traditional Crafts Exhibition, Chunichi Kokusai Togeiten International Ceramics Exhibition, Issuikai Exhibition, Asahi Ceramics Exhibition and Tanabe Museum of Art Tea Ceremony Exhibition (awarded), among many others. He was selected for exhibition at many of Japan’s top galleries including a solo exhibition at the Shibuya Kuroda Toen. Unfortunately, he passed away as he was reaching the peak of his career in 2006, just 52 years old.
