A set of five deep cylindrical cups by Nakane Gaku enclosed in the original signed compartmentalized wooden box titled Hibi-Kesho Yunomi.The artist is deeply influenced by the passage of time and the natural world. Inspired by the landscapes surrounding his country home, his art reflects the textures and colors of nature—worn surfaces of rocks, trees, and old tools, which embody the effects of time. His pieces, featuring intricate surfaces and beautiful cracks, evoke a sense of the ephemeral. Each is 6 cm (2-1/4 inches) diameter, 10 cm (4 inches) tall and in excellent condition, directly from the artist.
Nakane Gaku was born in Shiga prefecture, son of a ceramic artist, in 1995.He graduated the Dohda Art school in Kyoto before attending the Kyoto Prefectural Ceramists' Technical Institute, from which he graduated in 2016. He then apprenticed for five years under Ichino Masahiko in Tamba before establishing himself as a unique artist in 2021.
