An Art Nouveau influenced vase with butterfly handles and extravagant gold designs hailiing from the turn of the century kilns of Kyoto, likely Kinkozan. On one side, birds perched on sasa bamboo grass look toward a descending spider, opposite a courtly figure walking a dog. Between cherry blossoms form a tangle of vivid floral designs intersperse with peach blossoms under the golden spectacle about the rim. It is 15 cm (6 inches) diameter, 34.5 cm (13-3/4 inches) tall and in excellent condition, enclosed in a wooden box dyed black with ink for insect protection.
