A raw kiri-wood box decorated with Sasa bamboo grass in raised gold with a Kamakiri praying mantis with wings of Mother of pearl. Beautifully rendered, the box is a perfect example of the understated elegance and respect for nature so inherent to Japanese traditional art. The box is 38.5 x 9 x 3.5 cm (15-1/2 x 3-1/2 x 1-1/2 inches) and is in overall fine condition.
