A six sided tall bottle richly engraved with pine boughs from the edo period kilns of Bizen enclosed in an old wooden box titled Edo Jidai Ko-Bizen Rokkaku Ichi??Bin. It is 11.5 x 13.5 X 27.5 cm (4-1/2 x 5-1/2 x 11 inches). There is a repair to the rim, nearly invisible, otherwise is in excellent condition.
This is from the collection of a household formerly of samurai status, which, unlike many families, maintained its power over the centuries, into the modern age. The collection encompassed a great many antique and early modern Tea related works, Bronzes, porcelains and Lacquer wares. Without a successor in the current age, the collection was dispersed this Spring.
