Deer nuzzle each other under pine boughs on this fine silk scroll by Okamoto Hosui. It is performed with light pigments on silk in a fine satin border with rosewood rollers and measures 56 x 200 cm (22 x 79 inches) and in fine condition.
Okamoto Hosui was an artist born in Nara, initially studied under Hirai Chokusui, and then Kikuchi Hobun from whom he received his name. He lived in Kyoto and exhibited with the Bunten National exhibition and Sokyukai.
