A pair of fabulous ceramic Byobu Dome (also variously called Byobu Hasami or Byobu Osae) made to hold a folding screen in place in the shape of puppies dating from the early 20th century. They are in excellent condition, enclosed in a period wooden box titled Inugata Byobu Dome. The lower outside corners of the screen would be held in place by the slot in the puppies’ backs. The dogs are roughly 19 x 14 x 14 cm (7-1/2 x 5-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches) and weigh roughly 2 kg (4 pounds) each.
