A very unusual Bronze Koro of simplified form once covered in black lacquer in the Ming Style with Cicada on the rim, likely 16th-17th century. It has a rosewood stand and comes in an ancient wooden box on the bottom of which is written 甲戌 慶長十三年七月吉日 仲O九O右門 The stamps on the box appear to be later, stylistically Meiji and identifying both the old country name and new country name Echigo, Niigata, reinforcing the Meiji dating of the stamps, indicating likely that they were added by a later owner. The box itself is certainly much older.
