A modernist bronze vase by Yoneda Bisho enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Oborogin Shiho Kaki. Inside the lid is written Dai Sanjusankai Nihon Dento Kogeiten Nyusen Saku Showa Rokujuichi nen-do (Accepted at the 33rd National Traditional Crafts Exhibition in 1986). It is 22 x 22 x 16.5 cm (9 x 9 x 6-1/2 inches) and weighs 5.15 kg (11 pounds) and is in excellent condition.
Yoneda Bisho (1929-2008) was born in Takaoka City, Toyama prefecture, the fourth son of a metalworking family. He graduated from the department of metal craf at the Takaoka Art and Craft School in 1945. He studied under the well¬-known and future living national treasure Katori Masahiko and was instrumental in establishing the Sokogeikai (Creative Art Craft) association with other emerging craftsmen of the Takaoka region in 1952, Yoneda Bisho won many prizes at the Nitten and other important art exhibitions.
