A staggering early Koransha Vase decorated with overlapping palm fronds and maple leaves in raised white relief over a body coveredin single line gold crazing. It is 27 cm (11 inches) diameter, 45 cm (18 inches) tall and in excellent condition. This is an incredible work of art! It comes in a protective padded pouch in an old wooden box.
In 1875, after 200 years of porcelain making history, Fukagawa Eizaemon established Koransha from his family kiln, incorporating as the Koransha company in 1879. Within a short time their name became synonymous with the highest grades of porcelain. Since its foundation, Koransha had been serving as a purveyor to the Imperial Household Agency. The company was awarded at the 1876 hiladelphia Exposition, they took gold at the 1878 Paris Exposition, gold again at the 1888 Barcelona Exposition, grand prize in 1909 at the Yukon Pacific Exposition and again in 1910 at the Japanese-English Exposition. In 1915 they received Grand Pirze at the Panama Pacific Exposition.
