A delicate sometsuke bowl in the shape of a decayhing lotsu leaf by Shogetsuzan Rantei of Kyoto dating from the later Edo period signed on the base. Shogatsuzan Rantei was a Kyoto artist of the late Edo period who worked initially in Sometsuke blue and white wares, and later, around 1865, made pottery in richly colored red glazes in the Banko style. There are many chips along the edge consistent with use and age which seem to match with the idea of the slowly decaying leaf motif, no cracks or repairs.  The bowl is roughly 14.5 cm (5-3/4 inches) diameter, 6.5 cm 2-1/2 inches) tall and comes enclosed in an old wooden box titled Hasu-no-Ha Kobachi.
