A pair of scrolls depicting lotus flowers in swift, dynamic strokes mounted in antique Sarasa cloth with black lacquered wooden rollers enclosed in a hand-made wooden box. Signed Hakkuun, they are 45 x 186.5 cm (18 x 73-1/2 inches) each and in overall fine condition.

Although the bname is common (meaning white cloud) these are likely the work of Aichi born Takasu Hakuun (b. 1900) a specialist in Nanga studied under Yamamoto Baitsu and Mizuta Chikuho who lived and worked in Kyoto.  He exhibited with both the Teiten and Nanga-in Ten National exhibitions.
