An exquisite Neo-Rimpa box in wiped on red tinged semitransparent lacquer revealing the wood grain decorated with autumnal flowers enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Akigusa-e Suzuribako. Inside, a cricket carved from mother of pearl, the lonely minstrel of fall, sings his solo among long waving grass under a waning moon water dropper. The box is 16 x 20 x 3.3 cm (6-1/4 x 8 x 1-1/4 inches) and is in excellent condition.
