A silver lined spout under gold flange decorate the pouring end of this iron kettle with raised fan motifs and arcing shrimp handle dating from the Meiji period. The lid is wood lacquered black with gold design of overlapping pine needles, the central ridge decorated with gold hirame orbs.It is of superb quality, measuring 15 x 20 x 17 cm (6 x 8 x 7 inches) and is in excellent condition, enclosed in a period kiri-wood storage box.
