An acupuncture model carved of wood with string running down the meridians affixed with pins showing the acupuncture points. These lines represent invisible energy pathways in the body through which vital life energy, known as "qi" or "chi," is believed to flow. When qi becomes blocked or stagnant, it is believed to cause pain or illness, and acupuncture is used to clear these blockages and restore balance, similar to clearing a traffic jam on a highway. Thia figure is 70.5 cm (28 inches) tall. It comes in an old wooden case 24 x 18.5 x 77 cm (9-1/2 x 7-1/4 x 28 inches) and is in excellent overall condition. This would have been in a Chinese medicine shop or doctor”s office some many years ago.
