A wooden incense case carved with squirrels on grape vines on one side opposite Lingbi mushrooms, the two panels separated by deeply incised key frets dividing the two halves. 19th century, it is expertly crafted, lined with black lacquer, and comes enclosed in a period wooden box. It is 9.5 cm (4 inches) diameter, 3 cm (just over 1 inch) tall and in overall fine condition, with hairline cracks between some of the key frets typical of age.
