An elegant Chinese Tenmoku-yu Chawan tea bowl dating from the 14th to 16th century imported to Japan at a time when such exotic items commanded fortunes. Southern Song to early Ming period, it is 11 cm (4-1/4 inches) diameter, 6.5 cm (2-1/2 inches) tall and in excellent condition.
