White glaze covers the dark surface of this tsubo like late winter snow melting to reveal the earth beneath by Kimura Nobuyuki enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Baika-gawa Tsubo. It is 22 cm (9 inches) diameter, 25 cm (10 inches) tall and in excellent condition.
Kimura Nobuyuki was born in 1965 in the Gojo-zaka pottery district of Kyoto. He graduated the Kyoto city Municipal Ceramic Research Facility in 1987. He completed his own studio and Kiln on the West side of Lake Biwa in Shiga prefecture on 1994. He has since been exhibited and awarded at the Nihon Dento Kogei Ten (National Traditional Crafts Exhibition) as well as the Nihon Togeiten (National Ceramics Exhibition) among many others.
