Okada Kakyo (1894-1981) was born in Tokyo, given name Genjirō He studied under Yoshikawa Reika and specialized in Yamato-e, a classical Japane.se painting style. His name appears in several significant artist directories of the era, including the Directory of Oriental Painters (Taishō 15 / 1926), Contemporary Masters of National Painting (Shōwa 1 / 1926), and the Revised List of Renowned Calligraphers and Painters Past and Present. He also exhibited at the prestigious Bunten Imperial Art Exhibition.
