Red plum blossoms on the surface of this white ceramic incense burner by Furukawa Takahisa enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Yusai Beni-ume-mon Koro.  This piece was shown at a group exhibition of 90 koro by 90 different artists in 1996.  It is 13.5 cm (5-1/2 inches) diameter, 15 cm (6 inches) tall and in perfect condition.

Furukawa Takahisa (1940) was born in Tokyo and graduated from the first class of the Tokyo Art University Ceramics division (along with classmates Ito Motohiko and Yoshikawa Mizuki).  He then went to the Ceramics Research Facility in Gifu, and after his time there moved to Mashiko before settling in Ibaraki prefecture (home of Kasama) in 1973.  He has exhibited with the Nitten National Art Exhibition, Asahi Togeiten Ceramic Exhibition, Gendai Kogeiten modern Crafts Exhibition and Nihon dento Kogei Ten Traditional Crafts Exhibition among many others.
