A simple and versatile dish by Kyushu potter Matsushita Hiroki. It is 24 cm in diameter and in good overall condition. Acquired directly from the artist, it is housed in an inscribed wooden box entitled "Fugen Asa-bachi."
Matsushita Hiroki was born in Fukuoka prefecture on the Southern Island of Kyushu, home of Karatsu and Imari wares, in 1977. He graduated with a doctorate from the art department of Kyushu Sangyo University in 2009, then studied at the Sakaida Kakiemon Research facility. However his exhibition history begins back in 2003, with acceptance in the juried West Japan Ceramics Exhibition (Nishi Nihon Togeiten), followed by works at many other regional and National Ceramics Competitions.
