A twisting bamboo vase named Odoriko (Dancer) gone caramel colored with age covered inside with black lacquer enclosed in an ancient Kiri-wood box titled Yoken-Tsutsu. While the outside has had many many cracks in the surface filled with gold, the largest held together with silver staples, the interior is covered in black lacquer to protect and seal the bamboo surface, and it contains a lead insert for water. It is 31 cm (12-1/4 inches) tall and in overall excellent original condition. It comes in a box signed by the famous late Edo period flower-arrangement master Shunko Dosai.

Shunkodōsai (also referred to simply as Kodōsai) was a Japanese flower arrangement (Ikebana) master and author who was active during the late Edo period, specifically from the Kyōwa to Bunsei eras (early 19th century). Operating primarily in the Kyoto and Osaka regions, he authored numerous instructional books and secret transmissions (densho) detailing the seika (living flowers) styles of schools like Ikenobō. The texts he left behind are preserved today as highly valuable historical literature for studying traditional Japanese floral arts.
