A fabulous Black Oribe Vase by important modern artist Hayashi Kyosuke enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Kuro Oribe Hana-ire. It is 13 cm (over 5 inches) diameter, 23.5 cm (9-1/2 inches) tall and in excellent condition.
Hayashi Kyosuke was born in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture in 1962. At the age of 23, he joined the Toki Municipal Ceramics Testing Laboratory as an intern. Just the following year, he was selected to win the 30th Ceramic Design Competition. As a ceramist his talent was recognized at an early stage, however, he did not become complacent, but furthered his studies and honed his ceramic techniques under Living National Treasure Kato Kozo from 1989. He established his own studio at Inkyo-yama in 1997.
