A striking work in pastel colors veined with gold by Yoshita (Yoshida) Yukio enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Saidei Kinsai Kabin (Colored Clay with Gold Vase). The texture is lake archaic parchment, and immediately leaps out in its unique presentation apart from traditional Kutani pottery. It is 16.5 cm (6-1/2 inches) diameter 24 cm (9-1/2 inches) tall and in excellent condition.
Yoshida Yukio was born in Komatsu City, Ishikawa prefecture in 1960, the fourth generation at the Kinzan Kiln. He has been awarded at the Asahi Togeiten Ceramic Art Exhibition in 1985, top prize at the Traditional Kutani Exhibition (Dento Kutani Yaki Kogeiten), first prize at the Trendy Nishin Noodle Bowl Exhibition in 1995 and 97, as well as the Chozo Prize that same year, International Ceramic Biennale in 1999, the Modern Tea Ceramics Exhibition in 2000, National Traditional Crafts exhibition (Nihon Dento Kogeiten) and multiple times at the Takaoka Craft Exhibition. His work is held in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Minneapoliis Institute of At USA, Ishikawa Museum of Art, Komatsu City Museum, Ibaraki Ceramic Art Museum and Imperial Household Agency among others.
