Nakane Gaku was born in Shiga prefecture, son of a ceramic artist, in 1995.  He graduated the Dohda Art school in Kyoto before attending the Kyoto Prefectural Ceramists' Technical Institute, from which he graduated in 2016. He then apprenticed for five years under Ichino Masahiko in Tamba before establishing himself as a unique artist in 2021.
