Takeuchi Kouzo 竹内 紘三

Takeuchi Kozo was born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1977. He graduated from Osaka University of Arts in 2001 before continuing his studies at the Tajimi Pottery Design Technical Institute, completing the program in 2003. Since then, he has developed a practice distinguished by a strong sculptural sensibility and a refined command of material.

His work has been widely exhibited both in Japan and internationally, with exhibitions across the United States, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Belgium. In 2018, he was selected for the highly regarded 13th Paramita Ceramic Art Taishoten, an important recognition of his mature and distinctive voice within contemporary ceramics. In 2022, he served as an artist in residence at the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park, further deepening his engagement with clay and firing traditions.

Takeuchi’s works are held in major public collections worldwide, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; the Musée Cernuschi, Paris; the Anadolu University Museum of Fine Arts in Turkey; the Hyōgo Ceramic Art Museum; the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum; the Takashimaya Historical Museum in Osaka; and the INAX Tile Museum in Aichi. Through a balance of experimentation and discipline, his work continues to resonate across cultural and geographic boundaries.
