Nakashima Katsuko graduated from the Osaka School of Art and Design and first came to public attention after receiving the Silver Prize at the Nihon Tojiki Ceramics Design Competition in 1984. Since then, her work has been widely exhibited and highly acclaimed in both domestic and international ceramic exhibitions.
Her accolades include awards at the Asahi Gendai Kogeiten Contemporary Craft Exhibition, where she was awarded in 1997, a Bronze Prize at the Mino International Ceramics Festival in 1998, and the Gold Prize at the Gyeonggi-do International Ceramics Exhibition in Korea in 2003. She has also received the Grand Prize at the Kobe International Ceramics Competition, among numerous other honors.
Through a career marked by consistent innovation and technical refinement, Nakashima Katsuko has established herself as an important figure in contemporary ceramics, with work that continues to be recognized for its strong design sensibility and expressive clarity.
