Kato Yoshiyasu 加藤 好康

Kato Yoshiyasu was born in Aichi Prefecture in 1985 and graduated from the Kurashiki University of Science and Arts (Department of Craft and Design) in 2008. He completed advanced studies at the Tajimi City Ishoken Ceramics Research Facility in 2014 and remained working in the ceramic-rich Toki area before establishing his own studio in Nishio City in 2018.

Kato’s work is known for its delicate sculptural forms and functional beauty, often created through slip‑casting techniques that allow clean, non‑rotational shapes and expressive frameworks not easily achieved through other methods. Since 2014 he has participated in numerous juried exhibitions across Japan, and in 2024 he was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the 13th International Ceramics Exhibition Mino for his piece skeletal work, affirming his standing in contemporary ceramics.
