It is signed on the base DaiNippon Taizan Sei and enclosed in an old custom made Kiri-wood storage box. It is 7 cm (just less than 3 inches) diameter, 20.5 cm (8 inches) tall and is in perfect condition.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTaizan Yohei was a distinguished potter known for producing the highly decorative ceramics now referred to as Kyoto Satsuma. His works gained international recognition, earning a silver medal at overseas international expositions. In 1894 (Meiji 27), he is said to have closed his Awataguchi kiln in Kyoto and established the Nanzan-yaki kiln in Yawata, south of Kyoto.
