An intricate pattern in black and white like woven basketry decorated this sake cup by Suzuki Yusaku enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Ochoko 2025. Even the box is a work of art, decorated with stars and an abbreviated THX! exploding on the side. It is 6.5 cm (2-1/2 inches) diameter, 6 cm (2-1/4 inches) tall and in perfect condition, directly from the artist early this year.
Suzuki Yusaku was born in Aichi prefecture in central Japan in 1991 and graduated the Nagoya Zokei University Ceramics Course in 2014. He started drawing in the latter half of his sophomore year in college and this practice became the foundation of his current artistic style as well as a key element of his work’s appeal. He holds both group and solo exhibitions across Japan.
