After working briefly for a ceramic factory, he travelled extensively to various ceramic centers around the world, surveying environments, techniques and the overall culture of pottery before setting up his own studio in Mie in 1992 and began exhibiting his works that same year.  He eschews the world of competitive exhibition in favor of the intimate world and direct contact of the private gallery.  This has not inhibited his reputation, and at the very young age of 34 was held a solo exhibition of his oeuvre at the Paramita Museum.  He has also been exhibited internationally in Australia, China, England, India, Italy, Korea, New York, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam among others.  In 2015 he helped establish the Banko archive Design Museum. In 2016 and 2023 he was hosted solo  exhibitions at the exclusive Kuroda Toen in Shibuya. He was granted a joint exhibition of masks with the legendary Koie Ryoji in 2023. In 2018 he received the prestigious Japan Ceramic Society (JCS) award and in 2024 was recipient of the Nakata Hidetoshi Award at KO+GEI 2024.
