A beautiful Antique Ninsei Koro incense burner in the shape of a covered boat enclosed in a kiri-wood storage box titled Ninsei Utsushi Funagata Koro attested to by the legendary Miyagawa (Makuzu) Kozan of Porcelain manufacture fame. The thatched roof is raw clay, the hull covered in pale crackled glaze decorated in overglaze enamels with wood grain and splashing waves. 19th century, it is stamped with an impressed seal in the base, Ninsei. The vessel is 20 x 8.5 x 10 cm (8 x 3-1/2 x 4 inches) and in perfect condition.
