In 1955 he entered the Kita-Kamakura kiln of Kawamura Seizan. During his apprenticeship Suzuki spent long years performing menial tasks while observing the work of senior craftsmen, often remaining alone in the workshop at night to practice and refine what he had learned. In 1961 he became independent and established his own kiln in Odawara, Kanagawa Prefecture. He has been displayed at most national juried exhibitions including The Nihon Dento Kogeiten (Traditional Crafts Exhibition) from 1968, The Kogei Shinsaku Ten (New Crafts Exhibition) since 1969, and Nihon Togei Ten (Japanese Ceramic Exhibition) where he received the Exhibition prize in 1981. His works have been purchased as gifts for foreign dignitaries by the Gaimusho. Around the age of forty, a visit to the National Palace Museum in Taiwan profoundly influenced him; captivated by the beauty of celadon, he thereafter devoted himself to its study. In 1987 his work was awarded the Minister of Education prize at the 9th Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition, where his technical achievement was recognized as rivaling the celebrated celadon of the Southern Song dynasty Ru and Guan kilns. The following year one of his celadon jars was presented to the grand champion sumo wrestler Chiyonofuji as a commemorative gift for the National Honor Award, and in 1992 another example entered the collection of the British Museum. Suzuki has remained active at the forefront of contemporary ceramics, holding exhibitions in New York and participating in the Contemporary Japanese Ceramics Asia Touring Exhibition, among many others, and has received numerous honors including the prestigious Japan Ceramic Society (JCS) Award.

https://kuramonzen.com/ja/products/koro-insence-burner-%e3%83%bc%e9%88%b4%e6%9c%a8-%e4%b8%89%e6%88%90-%e9%9d%92%e7%93%b7-%e9%a6%99%e7%88%90
