Fukazawa Ion 深澤 伊穏

Ion Fukuzawa was born in Tokyo in 1990 and moved with his family to Sydney, Australia before his first birthday. He grew up moving between Japan and Australia until the age of eighteen, an experience that strongly shaped his sensibility and is reflected in the natural influences present in his work.

He attended international schools in Tokyo for both middle and high school, before studying design and ceramics at the University of New South Wales, where he earned a BA in Ceramic Design in 2013. After graduating, Fukuzawa worked for several years producing vessels for restaurants, but gradually sought a more expressive and experimental approach to ceramics.

Deeply influenced by artists such as Hattori Makiko and Kuwata Takuro—whose work he encountered at contemporary art exhibitions in New York—he enrolled in the Tajimi Pottery Design and Technical Institute, known for its advanced technologies and experimental outlook. He completed the program in 2020 and continues to develop a practice that merges refined technique with expressive form.

He also participated in the exhibition "IBUKI" Digital Catalog
